Welcome to the New World – The World Wide Web That Is

For those of you who have been attending our monthly Marketing & Digital Resource Group, you are aware of the need to update your website and make a concerted effort to increase your presence on social media. Pink Dog Digital’s President, Gina Ramsey, has been working with MCN members and guests to keep them up to speed on the ever-changing landscape of marketing your company. And when Google (the leading internet search engine) decides to change the way they rank websites, you need to take notice and react.

I was taking my notes throughout Gina’s sessions and concluded I needed help. MCN’s website was, by all accounts, tired. It was created in 2013 and was no longer up to the task when it came to integrating with the CRM program I use. Plus, the convoluted list of plugins which were patched together to take care of distinct functions only complicated matters more. All the thing behind the scenes mechanisms were worn and in need of replacing.

But today is the dawn of a fresh look for MCN. Thanks to Gina and the talented crew working at Pink Dog Digital, we unveil the next generation of our website. Now, it is properly optimized to get even more people finding out about the abundant opportunities found within our group.

I will be as much a traveler on this voyage as you. For the first time I will be working in a site that I do not know all the details of what makes it tick. Nor will I necessarily have the ability to immediately react to a problem.

One of the beauties of the technology behind many modern websites is that an inexperienced person can put together a rudimentary site that can suffice for personal endeavors or hobbies. With a moderate understanding of websites and the proper set of tools, a person can even put together a site that is used as a “display” vehicle for a company.

However, to make a more interactive and dynamic site work, both publicly and privately, you must turn to the experts. There were six meetings a year and a small number of contacts that needed to be serviced when MCN began. Now, our database includes nearly 5,900 individuals from more than 1,000 different companies. People from across the country find MCN’s website and access it. In 2021 the combined stats for MCN’s website tabulated over 4.92 million hits.

I look forward with great anticipation to what this redesigned website will do to generate traffic for MCN’s members and advertisers. I hope that you will enjoy the fresh look and feel, and that as it gets put to the proverbial test, you will let me know when you find something not quite right or perhaps not what you expected. As we have heard so many times, if you see something, say something. I tried to think of things from many perspectives, but I am just one set of eyes. And sometimes, those eyes are a bit out of focus.
